Cuban actress Corina Mestre admitted for coronavirus

The actress and professor Corina Mestre Vilaboy is among the patients reported in serious condition yesterday, December 25th, after testing positive for Covid-19.

Corina, 66 years old, is hospitalized at the Institute of Tropical Medicine "Pedro Kourí", where she remains under strict clinical surveillance due to her obesity and because she presents respiratory acidosis with inflammatory lesions in both lung fields.

"She is in intensive care, afebrile, continues with isolated dry cough, in spontaneous ventilation with supplemental oxygen. Inflammatory lesions in both lung fields with discrete improvement in the right hemithorax", indicates the Minsap report corresponding to December 24th.

Mestre, recognized among many other works for bringing Bernarda Alba to life or for her role in the popular series Doble Juego, would be among the serious cases reported by Cuba's Ministry of Public Health in its December 24th report, which indicates that she remains afebrile, with isolated dry cough and in spontaneous ventilation with supplemental oxygen. Some of the actress's family members are under epidemiological surveillance.

It has also come to light that Luis Morlote Rivas, president of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) tested positive for coronavirus.
