Cuban actor Rubén Cortada to star in new Spanish series

Popular Cuban actor Rubén Cortada, who has been seen in blockbuster productions such as El Príncipe and El Señor de los Cielos, will arrive on the screens of Antena 3 in prime time with the series "A qué estás esperando".

The series began production just days ago in the Canary Islands and is an adaptation of Megan Maxwell's literary universe based on the novels "A qué estás esperando" and "Tampoco te pido tanto".

Adriana Torrebejano, Francisco Ortiz, Eva Ugarte and Rubén Cortada himself lead the cast of the fiction, which has been described by the specialized press as an "erotic-romantic comedy". The artists will delve into a deep exploration of the contradictions that haunt love in the 21st century, according to Antena 3's official site.

According to Spanish media dedicated to film and the arts, in the audiovisual the Cuban Rubén Cortada will play Can, a pilot.

Out of respect for his father's wishes, he attends lavish dinners month after month where he is introduced to possible candidates for marriage and ends up starting a relationship with someone who was not in his family's plans.

It turns out that at one of the dinners he meets Sonia, a single mother who shows up unannounced to the gathering his mother organized so that his other sisters can meet the wealthy heir, but it is she who captivates the pilot.

Can and Sonia will discover the benefits of no-strings-attached sex and give free rein to their pleasures, but keeping their emotions at bay so as not to fall in love. The opposite will happen with the second leading couple, formed by Daryl, Can's close friend and also a pilot, who will be willing to turn his back on bachelorhood when he falls in love with a flight attendant named Carol.

For the two of them the challenge will be different, as their differences and the fears they carry will lead them to question their feelings and to assess whether they can truly overcome the obstacles that separate them.

Rubén Cortada is an actor and model from the Island of Youth, Cuba, who abandoned his studies in Automatic Engineering to immigrate to Spain.

There he began his work as a model and since 2011 he debuted on television with "Bandolera", an Antena 3 series. In 2013 he repeated the experience with "El tiempo entre costuras", and with "El Príncipe" came the long-awaited popularity and more work opportunities.

Soon after he would become one of the most sought-after villains in telenovelas, with his participation in the Telemundo mega-production "El Señor de los Cielos". There Cortada plays Fernando Aguirre, enemy of protagonist Aurelio Casillas.

In addition to "¿A qué estás esperando?", Rubén Cortada will be on Spanish screens in the series "Operación Barrio Inglés", an RTVE series that was filmed last year and is about to air.
