Young Cuban actors Daniel Romero and Claudia Tomás arrived in the city of Miami last weekend to begin a new stage in their personal and professional lives, according to what they themselves published on their social networks.
Both young actors gained popularity due to their leading roles in the film El Mayor directed by the recently deceased Rigoberto López. To speak about the decision to emigrate and about his professional work, Romero was invited to the program Derecho a réplica, hosted by Ián Padrón.
Regarding the decision to emigrate, the actor confessed: "What has motivated me is the aspiration to be happy, to be able to build a more prosperous future for myself, for my family, my wife, and to feel a little more free. To have a place in society, and to be myself".
Romero and Tomás made a stopover of several months in Mexico City where they went to make a special presentation of the film El Mayor, of which both are protagonists, the actor in the role of Ignacio Agramonte and the actress playing Amalia Simone.
The also interpreter of Martí in the film José Martí: el ojo del canario directed by Fernando Pérez, spoke about his romantic relationship with his wife. "We met 15 years ago, we were friends and I never thought at all that we would have a relationship. We studied together and in the classroom we were an incredible pantomime duo, we both have a comedic talent and we made people laugh in class".
Regarding the relationship that both historical figures have in his life, Romero explained "Martí taught me art, and Agramonte taught me how to be a man, how to be a husband".
About the film El Mayor, Romero expressed that he did not like the result of the movie. "It was a difficult process, it was a strong shock. I think the movie had an Achilles heel from the beginning and that is that it was very biographical and had a lot of texts taken from research. But I believed in it and I believe in the effort of the entire team behind it", the actor explained.
"Taking risks in Life makes you value every moment, focusing on the present moment!", the Cuban actor wrote a few days ago on his Instagram. Meanwhile Claudia wrote: "Life is now".
In early March, the young couple was seen in a photograph with theater director Carlos Celdrán and Cuban actress Rachel Pastor, in the city of Hialeah.
Recently Daniel and Claudia shared with filmmaker Lilo Vilaplana and his wife, writer and producer Irasema Otero.
Daniel and Claudia had been living in Mexico a few months ago and now decided to move to Miami. There they have not only encountered Cuban artists, but have also visited iconic places.
The film El Mayor was what brought the actors together. Daniel brought Ignacio to life and Claudia played Amalia. The love story of both transcended the big screen and they married in August 2019.
