On September 4th, the Centro de Arte de Cienfuegos will open an exhibition composed of 18 engravings by the celebrated creator Wifredo Lam, the most universal of Cuban painters.
As an event of high cultural significance, an exhibition of original works by Wifredo Lam, the most universal of Cuban painters, will open at the Centro de Arte de Cienfuegos on September 4th, reported Yoannia Aguirre González, president of the Provincial Council of Plastic Arts.
The exhibition is composed of 18 engravings by the celebrated creator born in Sagua la Grande in 1902 and who died in Paris in 1982, as well as documents, audiovisual materials, and the largest ceramic plate created by the author of La jungla.
Rafael Cáceres Valladares, first vice president of the Uneac in Cienfuegos and head of the Graphic Society of the territory, explained to our media that these works are part of the private collection of Alexis Leyva Machado (Kcho), who made them available for the exhibition.
The President of the Provincial Council of Plastic Arts clarified that the opening of the exhibition of the Cuban master will be part of the IV National Encounter of Theory and Criticism of Art Rufo Caballero, which will take place here from September 1st to 5th, with the presence of outstanding Cuban specialists in the visual arts and a prestigious group of doctors in Sciences on Art.
