The Centre Cultural Terrassa (Vallès Occidental) will host this Saturday, June 5, a tribute gala for Alicia Alonso, who was the prima ballerina of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba, in a show in which about ten international artists will perform a broad repertoire of classical works that Alonso herself choreographed with her characteristic style and technique.
According to the center, the program will consist of works such as La fille mal gardée by Peter Ludwig Hertel, Don Quixote by Ludwig Minkus, The Nutcracker and Swan Lake by Tchaikovsky, or the classics Giselle and Carmen, in the version by Salvador Fernández, among others.
This great classical repertoire will be performed by international dancers from institutions such as the Ballet Nacional de Cuba, with Anette Delgado and Dani Hernandez; the Ballet Municipal de Lima, with Oriana Plaza; the Gran Ballet de Cámara de Alicia Alonso, with Eva Natzaret; or the principal dancer of the Teatro de la Ópera de Ucrania, Alexis Tutunnique.
Alicia Alonso (Havana 1920-2019) began her professional career in 1938 on Broadway and with the American Ballet Caravan, predecessor of the current New York City Ballet, and later joined the Ballet Theatre of New York, in which she performed major works from her romantic and classical repertoire working alongside dancers such as Mikhaïl Fokine, George Balanchine, and Leonide Massine.
