Cuban troubadour Silvio Rodríguez sings in Galician for the first time on «O teu nome é bandeira», a collaboration with Spanish singer Uxía released on digital platforms on September 11, 2026. The debut, reported by the EFE news agency and Galician outlets including El Correo Gallego, is accompanied by a music video filmed on the Illa de Arousa.

The song, originally included on Uxía's album «Indómitas», pays tribute to Galician writer and journalist Begoña Caamaño, who died in 2014 and was a personal friend of Rodríguez. Uxía initiated the project, inviting the singer-songwriter to reinterpret the piece and take on the challenge of performing in Galician; reports say he welcomed the proposal with enthusiasm.

Caamaño and Rodríguez first met when she traveled to Cuba as a journalist; their friendship continued through correspondence and her later visits to the island. The video, directed by Paula Pez, features Rodríguez's voice indirectly, since the artist was not present for the shoot in Galicia.

The release comes as Rodríguez continues his 2026 Spanish tour, with dates in cities including Barcelona, Zaragoza, Bilbao and Madrid. The track is framed as a cultural bridge between Cuba and Galicia and as a memorial gesture toward Caamaño.
