# Roxana Gómez Advances to 400m Final at World Ultimate Championship in Budapest, Finishes Seventh

Cuban sprinter Roxana Gómez Calderón advanced to the 400 meters final at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship, held September 11-13, 2026, in Budapest, Hungary. The Cienfuegos native ran 49.71 seconds to place third in her semifinal, one of her best times of the season.

In Saturday's final on September 12, Gómez finished in seventh place. The title went to the Dominican Republic's Marileidy Paulino, who won in 49.07 seconds.

Gómez, 27, holds Cuba's national record in the 400 meters, a mark of 49.48 seconds she set in the final of the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, where she placed sixth. She has represented Cuba at three Olympic Games (Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024) and was part of the Cuban team that won gold in the 4x400m relay at the 2021 World Athletics Relays in Poland.

Her run to the Budapest final underscores her consistency among the world's top one-lap runners, at an inaugural event bringing together the leading specialists in each track and field discipline.
