# Sadaise Arencibia Receives High Recognition from Uneac

**Date:** 09/08/2025

The Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (Uneac) paid tribute to dance in the person of Sadaise Arencibia, prima ballerina and maître of the National Ballet of Cuba (Bnc), who received the "Nicolás Guillén" Diploma, one of the highest recognitions granted by the organization.

The award is presented to Cuban personalities with a relevant trajectory and great artistic and social merits; and in this sense, the distinguished ballerina received the distinction from the hands of Magda Resik, first vice president of Uneac.

The vice presidents Lesbia Vent Dumois and Yuris Nórido also attended the event; as well as Viengsay Valdés, general director of Bnc; Rachel García Heredia, president of the National Council of Performing Arts; winners of the National Prizes for Dance and Television; and representatives of Bnc, the Fernando Alonso National School of Ballet, the Dance Center of Havana, the National Theater of Cuba and the Ministry of Culture, among others.

The tribute included the exhibition of two film materials: a compilation of great moments from Sadaise Arencibia's career, made by Ahmed Piñeiro Fernández; and a music video directed by Adolfo Izquierdo, in which Arencibia, Ana Rosa Meneses, from the Ecos Flamenco Company, and Yoerlis Brunet, from Contemporary Dance of Cuba, act jointly.

Nórido, when delivering the words of praise for the distinguished ballerina, expressed that Sadaise bet, as Alicia Alonso did in her time, on building a career for the world, from her Homeland, in her Homeland, for her Homeland; and the Cuban public has been particularly grateful for that, having had the opportunity to appreciate her evolution, her growth, the realization of her potential.

The distinguished art critic added that those who know her personally know that she is a studious woman, cultured, sensitive, a good friend, a lover of all the arts, simple, free from pretense; but the most well-known Sadaise is the exceptional artist, the one with meticulous technique, put in function of expression, the one with complete mastery of styles, the one who has made her art a shared heritage. That is what this "Nicolás Guillén" Diploma recognizes.

Two young pianists awarded in the Musicalia Competition: Gabriela Hernández and Cristian Pérez, performed pieces by Ernesto Lecuona, thus contributing the gift of Cuban music on a morning of recognition for a great artist.
