# Raisel Iglesias sees his 27.2-inning scoreless streak snapped but still earns the save for Atlanta

**Date:** 05/28/2026

Cuban closer Raisel Iglesias of the Atlanta Braves saw his outstanding scoreless innings streak come to an end on Tuesday, May 27, 2026, at 27.2 consecutive innings. Nevertheless, the pitcher born on Cuba's Isla de la Juventud overcame the setback to earn his ninth save of the season, securing Atlanta's 7-6 win over the Boston Red Sox.

Iglesias had begun building his streak on August 30, 2025. It ended when Isiah Kiner-Falefa drove in two runs with a hit — the only damage done to the Cuban closer in that outing, in which four hits were allowed overall.

Despite the interruption, Iglesias shut the door with a strikeout and a ground ball to the mound, preserving the Braves' victory. His numbers for the current season remain excellent: a 1.80 ERA, 20 strikeouts in just over 16 innings, and a WHIP of 0.90.

The mark of 27.2 consecutive scoreless innings places him among the best streaks by a Cuban-born pitcher in the Major Leagues. Ahead of him stand two stretches by elite reliever Aroldis Chapman: 35 innings between 2011-2012 and 28.1 in 2014. Iglesias himself leads the all-time Cuban list with his personal record of 35.1 innings set in 2024.

With this performance, Raisel Iglesias continues to cement his reputation as one of the National League's most reliable closers and a standard-bearer for Cuban baseball in the MLB.
