Cuban singer-songwriter Francisco "Pancho" Céspedes had a frightening moment on stage on the night of Thursday, October 15, in Mexico City. During his Francisco Céspedes Sinfónico show at the Teatro de la Ciudad Esperanza Iris, the "Vida loca" singer felt dizzy, began sweating and became visibly unwell, forcing him to pause the performance for medical attention. While he recovered, guest singer Rosy Arango kept the audience company with a song. After a short break, Céspedes returned to the stage and finished the concert.

The next day, his management released a statement saying he was "well and stable" and that he had experienced a drop in blood pressure that was brought under control on the spot. The statement noted that Céspedes had just returned from a long tour of Spain, with the jet lag and the adjustment to Mexico City's altitude that came with it. It also mentioned that he lives with diabetes, a condition he has spoken about publicly, though it did not name it as the direct cause of the episode.

In an interview with the YouTube program Tuday, reported by Diario Las Américas, Céspedes said "today I'm fine" and described the episode as "quite tragic," "like a movie," recalling a doctor in the audience who, he said, leapt over the seats to reach him. He also said he has high blood pressure and had taken his pills that day. Asked about advice to slow down, he didn't hesitate: "Everyone tells me to stop. I can't stop."

The Miami-based artist said he planned to return to Miami on October 21 and has four concerts lined up in Miami, four in New York and dates in the Dominican Republic. His team confirmed he is "ready and excited" to receive the Latin Grammy for Musical Excellence on November 9.
