Cuban musician Martín Rojas, the great musician, has died in Miami. The notable guitarist and composer died on the night of this Sunday in Miami, where he resided. He was 80 years old at the time of his death. The information emerged from social media, where users such as singer Paz Luaces and filmmaker and poet Jorge Fuentes lamented his passing.

Composer and guitarist, friend since the sixties when he founded Sonorama 6, a group of which he was director and guitarist, accompanied by Rember Egues, Paquito de Rivera, Changuito, Enrique Plá and Carlos Puerto.

He was guitarist for Omara, who sang to him his "Siempre es 26".

Great friend of Pablo Milanés and of the initiators of the Nueva Trova: Silvio, Noel and Vicente, he collaborated with them who recognized his harmonic mastery and the virtuosity of his guitar.

He was the one who initiated Eduardo Ramos in the study of the bass and later had him play in his group. Many times, taking turns with Luis Adolfo Peñalver, a great friend of mine and pianist of Ritmo Oriental, I served him as his guide and we had a great time, because he was a great joker.

The echo of his chords still remains in the accompaniment he provided to Pablo in the memorable recitals of Mexican and Cuban boleros held at Tropicana. My friend Lolita Torriente, his cousin, just gave me this tragic news and right away I remembered the day I told him about the music of Michel Legrand in the film "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg". He made that neck turn that I don't know why blind people make and told me: "You know I saw it".
