The documentary Mi sueño cubano, dedicated to the journey of Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba (LADC), closed the 2026 Havana Film Festival New York on May 7, with a special screening at the Quad Cinema in New York City.

Directed by Spanish filmmaker Christian Dehugo, the film had its world premiere in October 2025 at the Seminci (Valladolid International Film Week) in Spain, marking the beginning of an extensive tour of film festivals around the world.

At the closing screening, Cuban dancer, choreographer, and director Lizt Alfonso and filmmaker Christian Dehugo participated in conversations about the audiovisual language of the work and the scope achieved by the LADC project, including its transformative impact on generations of Cubans in the educational, academic, social, and artistic spheres.

The documentary portrays not only the company's work on stage but also the lives of those who have been deeply shaped by Alfonso's project. Her school and company have been benchmarks of excellence in Cuban dance for more than three decades. Lizt Alfonso, named a UNICEF cultural ambassador in 2011, is recognized as one of the most influential figures in contemporary Cuban dance.
