# Gold Medal Mayte Spínola for Cuban sculptor Martha Jiménez

The artist from Holguín and Camagüey, Martha Jiménez, recently received the Mayte Spínola Gold Medal, which is awarded in Spain.

Upon receiving this welcome news, members of the Council of Plastic Arts in Camagüey celebrated together with her the award that she obtained on February 24th for her sculptural work, a work that she carries out with great passion. Martha Jiménez has an extensive artistic career, in which she has been honored in several competitions, both national and international, and has held the UNESCO Prize since 1997.

Martha is an official member of LASA (Latin American Studies Association), of UNEAC and holds the Fidelio Ponce de León Distinction. Her work highlights include the Sculptural Ensemble of Plaza del Carmen, in Camagüey and four monumental sculptures in the city of Eskişehir, Turkey.

The artist has conducted numerous exhibitions, both collective and individual, in different media of the visual arts. Her work has the acceptance of a diverse audience and is cataloged as grandiose and genuine.
