# Mario Aguirre, National Humor Prize-2022

**Date:** 12/16/2022

With the presentation this Wednesday of the National Humor Prize-2022 to actor Mario Aguirre, the 26th edition of the Aquelarre Festival began in the capital, which will take place until the 18th, under the slogan A Matter of Gender, as it is dedicated to women and young people in humor.

In the Covarrubias room of the National Theater of Cuba, the popular actor —who has worked in all media— was recognized for his constant commitment to good art, far from vulgarity and always rooted in the most authentic humor of the Greater Antilles.

Aguirre was part of Teatro Estudio, under the direction of Raquel and Vicente Revuelta, where he had the opportunity to share with greats of the national stage and, above all, to perform classic Cuban theater, standing out in comedies.

On television we have also enjoyed his performances, as he has participated in various programs and ventured into several genres, demonstrating his versatility. Likewise, he is considered one of the pillars of our musical theater.

However, the public distinguishes him for his humorous roles, such as that of singer Atanasio Pindueles or that of Regla, the elderly hypochondriac woman.

Recipient in 2019 of the Acting Prize for a lifetime of work, Mario Aguirre has dedicated more than 50 years to acting, and with the award received in the framework of this important festival, his talent and his indisputable place in the Cuban artistic panorama are reaffirmed.
