# Liuba María Hevia moves Madrid’s Ateneo with «Almas comunes» album launch

Cuban singer-songwriter Liuba María Hevia filled the main hall of Madrid’s Ateneo on September 19, 2026 for the concert launch of Almas comunes, her 26th album. A SevillaPress review describes a packed room and a set that mixed new songs with staples from her catalog, including «Ausencias» and children’s favorites such as «Estela, granito de canela» and «Señor arcoíris».

On stage she was joined by Christopher Simpso (violin), Yibrán Riverola (tres and guitar), Eilyn Marquetti (percussion) and José Ernesto Hermida (bass). From the new work, «Entre Madrid y La Habana» stood out; Ana Belén appears as a guest on the recorded version. The first single, «Amada tierra mía», arrived September 18, with the full album due November 6 on Duende Music.

Hevia, a Nueva Trova figure with more than four decades of work and multiple Cubadisco awards, again places her music in the conversation between Cuba and Spain. Further singles announced include «Asturias, bendito sea el amor» (with bagpiper Hevia and Marisa Valle Roso) and «A pesar del poder».
