# Liuba María Hevia takes "Almas comunes" to Querétaro and Mexico City: "I'm a passive migrant"

**Date:** 10/24/2026

Cuban singer-songwriter Liuba María Hevia is touring Mexico with "Almas comunes" ("Common Souls"), her 26th album. She plays El Cubo in Querétaro on Saturday, October 24, and wraps the tour on Friday, October 30, at Marketeatro in Mexico City, after earlier stops at Foro Rush in Veracruz on October 16 and Sala Forum in Puebla on October 23, according to Aristegui Noticias and Periodistas Unidos.

The album, presented on September 19 at the Ateneo de Madrid, has eleven songs, including "Entre Madrid y La Habana," a duet with Spanish singer Ana Belén. It blends trova with blues, country and Asturian influences on tracks such as "Amada tierra mía," "Para que nunca me olvides" and "A pesar del poder," and its themes are migration, memory and family. In Mexico she is joined by her musical director, Arnulfo Guerra, with percussionist Armando Montiel added for the Mexico City date.

Speaking to Aristegui Noticias, Hevia, who now lives mostly in Spain, described herself this way: "I'm a passive migrant," recalling her grandfather, who was born in Asturias. On her songwriting she said, "I'm a symbolic woman... that's my way of singing about life," and on her lifelong genre: "For me, trova is more than a genre; it's a way of making music."

Linked to Cuba's Nueva Trova movement since 1982, Hevia has won sixteen Cubadisco awards over her career.
