# Leyanis Pérez Hits Best Jump of Her Career to Win Monaco Diamond League at 15.06 Meters

**Date:** 07/11/2026

Cuban triple jumper Leyanis Pérez, the reigning world champion in the event both outdoors and indoors, recorded the best official jump of her career on Friday, July 10, 2026, clearing 15.06 meters at the Diamond League meeting in Monaco (Herculis EBS) and surpassing the 15-meter barrier for the first time.

The Pinar del Río native had set her sights on that mark since the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador, where she jumped 14.98 meters. In Monaco, she edged out Senegal's young star Saly Sarr, who finished second with 14.99 meters — also a personal best. Paris 2024 Olympic champion Thea LaFond, of Dominica, rounded out the podium with 14.79 meters.

Two other Cuban athletes also competed: Davisleydi Velazco, who had won two Diamond League stops earlier this season but fell short of the 15-meter mark, finishing fourth with 14.66 meters; and world medalist Liadagmis Povea, who placed fifth with 14.43 meters.

The jump comes just ahead of the upcoming Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo 2026, capping a cycle in which Pérez has claimed outdoor world gold in Tokyo 2025, indoor world titles in Nanjing 2025 and Toruń 2026, and multiple Diamond League victories.
