# Cuban Basketball Player Jasiel Rivero Returns to Valencia Basket on One-Month Contract

**Date:** 09/05/2026

Cuban power forward Jasiel Rivero, 32, signed a one-month temporary contract on August 31, 2026, with Valencia Basket, the reigning champion of Spain's Liga Endesa, which beat FC Barcelona 3-1 in last season's final and also won the Spanish Super Cup. The deal, with no extension clause, covers the preseason and the start of the official season.

According to the club, the signing is meant to bolster training sessions given the absence of players called up to their national teams during this stretch of the calendar. Rivero arrives as a free agent following his most recent stint with Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade).

Born in Havana and standing 2.06 meters tall, Rivero previously played for Valencia from 2021 to 2023, a spell in which he appeared in 105 games averaging 10.8 points and 4 rebounds and was twice named Liga Endesa Player of the Month. He has since played for Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel as well.

"Papito" Rivero's return to the club that was his home for two seasons comes at a high point for Valencia, which will look to defend its league crown in the 2026-2027 season.
