# Cuban outfielder Yasiel Puig already has a team to play in 2020 in Major Leagues

**Date:** 07/15/2020

After a long stint as a free agent, Cuban Yasiel Puig signed with the Atlanta Braves. Although the team has not confirmed the deal.

The contract amount is still unknown. Puig would be taking the place of veteran outfielder Nick Markakis, who recently opted out of the 2020 season.

Additionally, he will join the group of outfielders for the Braves that includes Ronald Acuña Jr., Ender Inciarte, Adam Duvall, and Marcell Ozuna, who was also a free agent this offseason.

Recently, it came to light that the Baltimore Orioles had made him an offer due to a shortage of outfielders.

After six years in which he reached stardom with the Dodgers, Puig departed free agency to the Cincinnati Reds during 2019. At the trade deadline, the Reds sent him to the Cleveland Indians in order to acquire starting pitcher Trevor Bauer.

The agreement between Yasiel and the Braves has a one-year duration; this transaction will help the Braves enrich the options in their outfield.

Puig batted .267, with 24 home runs and 84 RBIs combined with Cincinnati and Cleveland in 2019. He also stole 19 bases.
