# Isaac Delgado Nominated for Cubadisco 2026 Award with "Mira como vengo"

Cuban singer Isaac Delgado, known as El Ch&eacute;vere de la Salsa (The Cool Guy of Salsa), is among the nominees for the Cubadisco 2026 Award with his musical production Mira como vengo, Cuba's official newspaper Granma reported this Saturday.


The Cuban Institute of Music revealed the nominees for the 29th edition of the Cubadisco International Fair, which will take place from May 16&ndash;24, 2026 at the Cuba Pavilion of the Hermanos Sa&iacute;z Association and at the Covarrubias Hall of the National Theater of Cuba. This edition will be dedicated to Cuban son, which was recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in December 2025.


Out of 220 productions submitted, the competition features 124 works in genre categories and 35 in general categories. Competitive categories include Academic and Instrumental Jazz, Songwriting, Nueva Trova, Soundtrack, Fusion, Pop, Alternative Fusion, Children's Song, Urban Music, Mini Album, Singles &mdash; and as a novelty, the category En redes (On Social Media), dedicated to works released on digital platforms.


Among the other standout competing works are Virus by Formell y Los Van Van; Nuit Parisienne &agrave; La Havane by pianist Roberto Fonseca alongside French cellist Vincent Segal; Locuras by Rolando Luna and Annys Batista; and the collective album &Aacute;lbum Blanco para Silvio Rodr&iacute;guez.


During the nominees presentation, the Special Cubadisco 2026 Awards were also presented to singer-songwriter Augusto Blanca, to improvisational poets (repentistas) Roly &Aacute;valos and Alexis D&iacute;az for their work Controversia del Siglo en verso improvisado, and to music critic Joaqu&iacute;n Borges Triana, among others.


The fair will include its traditional Symposium from May 19&ndash;21 in hybrid format, celebrating the 55th anniversary of the National Museum of Music and the 40th anniversary of the magazine Clave.


Isaac Delgado, born in Marianao, Havana, on September 11, 1962, is one of the most celebrated figures in Cuban salsa. With a career spanning more than four decades, he has won multiple EGREM Awards and performed on major stages across Latin America, Europe, and the United States.
