# Isaac Delgado Celebrates 35 Years of His Orchestra and His 64th Birthday with a New Album

Cuban singer Isaac Delgado, known as El chévere de la salsa, celebrated a double milestone on April 11, 2026: his 64th birthday and the 35th anniversary of his orchestra, a project that since 1991 has been a benchmark of popular dance music in Cuba and around the world.


The Cuban Institute of Music dedicated the cover of its magazine La Corchea to the Havana-born artist, published this week by the Prensa Latina agency, as a tribute to three and a half decades of career. His debut album, Dando la hora (1991), set the tone from the start with a proposal that fused salsa tradition with the energy and rhythmic complexity of Cuban timba.


Throughout his career, Delgado has gathered some of the most accomplished musicians of the scene into his ensemble, giving his live performances an unmistakable signature sound. Songs such as La vida es un carnaval, Qué pasa loco, La mujer que más te duele, and No me mires a los ojos are part of the repertoire that cemented him in the collective memory of his fans on and off the island.


As a gift to his fans, the artist recently released the album Mira como vengo, his first studio production in six years, now available on digital platforms. With this record, in his own words, he returns "with more strength, because life embraces me and deserves to be celebrated."
