# Gina Cabrera will be eternally remembered by the Cuban people

Luisa Georgina Cabrera Parada, Gina Cabrera to the people of Cuba and to the world, was one of the founders of television on the island. She worked in all genres; she performed tragedies, comedies, was the face of characters in novels, adventures, embodied diverse roles in the space Teatro en TV, and created children's programs.

In radio she had a meritorious career, her voice reached Cuban homes from Radio Liberación, Radio Rebelde and Radio Progreso in the radio dramas she starred in; she was also an announcer for news programs and many others for children.

Gina Cabrera was also a film actress; she made several films with both national and foreign film directors, participating in some Cuba-Mexico co-productions.

An tireless teacher, she transmitted her knowledge to generations of Cuban actors and actresses. She was linked to artistic education and was part of acting evaluation commissions.

Throughout her career, she received multiple recognitions in Radio, Television and Cinema, among these are the Medal Order Nacional for 30 years dedicated to art, Medal for National Culture from the Ministry of Culture, Raúl Gómez García Medal from the National Union of Workers in Culture, Medal for Literacy from the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba, Medal from the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television for more than 25 years of work.

She was also awarded the Prize for best female performance in the 8th UNEAC Competition, the 70th Anniversary Radio Cubana Trophy, Special Caricato Television Prize in 1999, National Television Prize 2003 For the Work of a Lifetime, the Status of Artist of Merit in 2004 among other honors.

Gina Cabrera was not only a beautiful woman, and indeed she was, but she also had interpretive strength and histrionic gifts that earned her the epithet of "the Queen of Drama" in the country. This artist managed to captivate her audiences with her dedication to her profession and the responsibility and respect she always felt toward acting.

Luisa Georgina, Gina of Cuba, will live eternally in the memory of her people who remember her in television programs such as Miércoles de amor Palmolive, Soraya una flor en la tormenta, embodying characters such as Juana Azurduy and in adventures like El Caballero Blanco or Lo Mambises, the younger generations will remember the sweet voice of Tía Tata cuenta cuentos. Gina Cabrera passed away at 93 years old on January 3, 2022.
