# Cuban footballer finishes as runner-up in Nicaragua League

**Date:** 05/11/2020

Cuban footballer Sandro Cutiño, enrolled in the ranks of the Managua club, finished as runner-up in the recently concluded Professional League of Nicaragua, which was won by Real Estelí.

In the second leg of that great final, Estelí's so-called "Train of the North" won with a score of 3-1, following the 1-1 tie in the first leg match.

Cutiño is a central defender, 1.95 meters tall, 25 years old from Manatí, Las Tunas, who has been playing with Managua since last year.

When I debuted with the Cuban national team in 2019, precisely as a visitor in two friendly matches against Nicaragua, the Managua coach (Emilio Aborto) saw my abilities and began to seek my contract with the Cuban Football Association, Cutiño told Prensa Latina.

Here (in Nicaragua) football is played very differently from what we have there. I have learned a lot, I am grateful to the coach for what he has done with me, I am very happy with this second place in the League and I feel better prepared for when the pandemic is eradicated and the Cuba team calls me up, asserted the central defender from Las Tunas.

The Nicaraguan league is just one of four being disputed in the world, behind closed doors due to the health situation given the impact of COVID-19. In that Central American country there are barely 16 cases of contagion and five deaths reported.
