# Cartoonist Humberto Lázaro Miranda Ramírez (LAZ) Passed Away at 64 Years Old

The Cuban press is in mourning following the death at age 64 of Humberto Lázaro Miranda Ramírez (LAZ), who worked as a cartoonist for the newspaper Juventud Rebelde.


Known for his infinite ability to draw Cuban reality from a customary perspective, LAZ felt attracted to drawing from a very young age, and became involved with the cartoonists of the weekly magazine Pionero during his adolescence.


A graduate in Visual Arts and member of Dedeté, he was a sign painter, comic strip artist, illustrator and cartoonist, and worked in customary humor, political satire, general humor and personal caricature.



Throughout his career he participated in more than a hundred collective and solo exhibitions, with almost one hundred national awards and about twenty international awards.



He participated in events in Italy, Greece, Mexico, Colombia and the United States, where he taught workshops and held talks
