# Prominent General Director of the Iconic Hotel Nacional de Cuba Has Died

**Date:** 03/26/2020

Antonio Martínez Rodríguez, Tony, was general director of the Hotel Nacional de Cuba (HNC) for 22 years.

Martínez Rodríguez was rated by guests from various countries as an exceptional host and an executive with innovative ideas aimed at diversifying and making services and customer attention more attractive, according to ACN.

However, as he recently said with characteristic modesty in an interview, one man alone does not create a work, and he emphasized the unconditional support of his work team.

On that occasion, he acknowledged that people who come to Cuba as tourists are also interested in the country's culture, and in the halls of the HNC we show them part of that cultural heritage, said its general director.

Incorporated into revolutionary activity at the age of 16, Antonio Martínez Rodríguez achieved the rank of Brigadier General in the ranks of the Ministry of Interior.

His coworkers, colleagues from the sector, and many of those who visited the Hotel Nacional, a distinguished facility of Cuban tourism, have deeply mourned his death.
