# Hermes Moreno, director of Editorial Nuevo Milenio, dies

Hermes Moreno, director of Editorial Nuevo Milenio, passed away in Havana in the early morning of August 14 as a victim of COVID-19.

Hermes was a great expert in the editorial process in the country. Moreno was a jovial, enthusiastic and hardworking person who led the Cuban Book Institute team for a decade, present at LASA Congresses and presented, in those spaces, lectures on multiple topics related to literary work.

Likewise, he represented the entity in various International Book Fairs, Congresses and other events to promote the achievements of the Cuban editorial system and, for the past five years, held the position of director of the aforementioned publishing house.

Hermes Moreno was born in Sagua la Grande, province of Villa Clara, on September 3, 1961 and subsequently studied education specializing in Mathematics at the Enrique José Varona Higher Pedagogical Institute in Havana.

For years he worked as an editor and executive in different Cuban publishing houses, especially at Editorial Academia, served as Technical Production Director of the Cuban Book Institute, Director of Editorial Gente Nueva and was a frequent contributor to various publications.

Hermes de Jesús Moreno Rodríguez leaves an everlasting memory in those who had the privilege of knowing him, sharing with him dreams and projects.
