# Evelyn García Márquez Prepares New Album

**Date:** 07/02/2023

Cuban pianist, singer and composer Evelyn García Márquez is working on a new record production, in which pop predominates, a genre she has widely championed throughout her career.

Ten years after her last album, the artist has brought together several musicians from the island and from Panama.

"The album features pop songs that characterize my music and at the same time we blend it with other genres of Cuban music. There is also a duet with my mother Beatriz Márquez included, which is quite a privilege," Evelyn told OnCuba.

Still untitled, the album brings together several of her compositions, including: "Tu amor," "Días y noches" and "Timbafunk."

"There are eight songs on which I have done the arrangements, programming and music production. I had the fortune of also counting on the arrangements by Eduardo Pineda and the special participation of maestros Cucurucho Valdés and Enrique Plá on the song 'Si te apartas de mí'," she said.

Recorded in Panama and at the PM Records studios in Havana, the material will include a music video, as the artist announced.

Born on July 1, 1972, Evelyn García began her musical journey as a very young child, thanks to the influence of her grandfather, musician and composer René Márquez (1914-1986) and her mother, the renowned singer Beatriz Márquez, known as "La Musicalísima."

From an early age, Evelyn felt drawn to jazz and American music. Among her favorite artists are Sindo Garay, Manuel Corona, Adolfo Guzmán, Cole Porter, Pat Metheny and George Gershwin, among others.

She graduated in 1991 with a degree in piano and worked with maestro Adalberto Álvarez's orchestra (1948-2021) until reaching the OTI Festival (Iberoamerican Telecommunications Organization) that same year, where she finished among the five finalists.

Her first album, titled Evelyn, was released under the EGREM label (Empresa de Grabaciones y Ediciones Musicales) and was followed by others such as Complicidad and Y de regreso.

For several years she dedicated herself to teaching in Spain and the United States, without abandoning performance.

Recently, Evelyn García Márquez participated in the recording of the album Este encuentro. In it she pays tribute to the work of her grandfather René Márquez, together with her mother and her brother Michel Maza (1978). The album is expected to be released at the end of this year.
