# Erick Hernández Achieves New Guinness Record for Ball Control

**Date:** 03/01/2023

Last Saturday, Erick Hernández surpassed his own Guinness record for ball control: he spent one hour, 12 minutes and five seconds striking a soccer ball solely with his head.

Erick Hernández struck the sphere for 1:12.05 hours without it touching the ground, using only his head, in a seated position and with a weight of 1.5 kilograms tied to each ankle. He thus broke his own Guinness record for ball control.

The Cuban entered the Guinness Book of Records for the first time in 2005, for touching the ball 319 times in one minute with his head.

Since then, he has set several records, such as remaining for 10 hours and nine minutes, seated while striking the ball only with his feet.

The skill of Erick Hernández Sánchez has been recognized internationally, which has allowed him to continue being called The Dominator.

His latest feat demonstrates the talent and dedication that the Cuban possesses for the sport. This record set by the athlete will serve as a source of inspiration for all those who wish to achieve success through their passion.

Former Cuban footballer Erick Hernández, once again, managed to break the Guinness Record mark by maintaining ball control for an extended period of time.

Previously, he kept a ball bouncing on his head for 1 hour, 9 minutes, 59 seconds. Likewise, to increase the difficulty level of this challenge, he incorporated a weight of 1.5 kg on each of his legs.

However, at that time, Erick Hernández achieved this feat carrying 1 kg of weight on each leg, whereas he broke the Guinness Record with 1.5 kg.

Upon concluding the challenge and savoring the triumph, he appeared very emotional and expressed moving words to the attending media.

"I would like to dedicate this record to the people of Pinar del Río who suffered the onslaught of Hurricane Ian," Erick Hernández expressed after achieving the Guinness Record.

He also recalled how various tragedies have affected Cuba, mentioning how this event had to be postponed.

Apparently, this demonstration was scheduled to take place in the town of Varadero, but after the explosion in Matanzas, he had to reschedule it.

This is why, despite the plans, these circumstances led to the event being held in the Cuban capital.

Also, Erick Hernández confessed that reaching this Guinness Record at age 56 was not easy, and that this effort has left him exhausted. However, knowing that his objectives were achieved, it comforts him to know that all the work done was completely worthwhile.

Furthermore, as if that were not enough, it became known on social media that the former footballer has planned a new demonstration to break a world record. It will take place on November 19, although it is unclear exactly in which category he plans to inscribe his name again in the famous Book of Records.
