Renowned Cuban artists joined their talents in a moving tribute to their countryman Aramís Delgado, who received the National Theater Prize 2023 for his undeniable contribution to the theatrical world.

The Hubert de Blanck hall, in this capital, hosted the performers who took to the stage as a tribute to him and as a manifestation of art that, after so many years, finally smiled upon him with the long-awaited award.

The Minister of Culture, Alpidio Alonso, and other personalities from the arts world awaited alongside him for this crucial moment, while renowned actress Corina Mestre read the Jury's statement.

As president of the jury, the artist noted that Delgado has had a fruitful and successful career in theater, a medium in which he performed in more than 80 productions, both Cuban and international.

She also highlighted that television and cinema made him a very popular and beloved actor among the public thanks to his notable performances, with which he set standards on the entire Cuban stage.

The actor appeared happy and moved by the distinction which, as he confessed, he had been waiting for a long time.

It is very satisfying to receive this National Prize for the work of a person who gave everything to acting. I believe that it is my life. Without acting I cannot be happy. Until I die I will give the best of myself. Here I am, Delgado expressed.

The 81-year-old artist is recognized both inside and outside Cuba as one of the leading figures in film, television, and theater, in addition to being a professor to several generations of actors and actresses on the Caribbean island.

Television brought him to popularity, making him a highly admired performer for his roles in telenovelas such as Magdalena, Entre mamparas, Si me pudieras querer, and Las huérfanas de la Obrapía, among many others.

He burst onto the film scene in 1965 in the film Soy Cuba, a Cuban-Soviet co-production directed by Mikhail Kalatozov.

He participated in nearly 30 films and acted in Bulgaria, the Soviet Union, the German Democratic Republic, the Federal Republic of Germany, Portugal, Spain, Venezuela, and Brazil.
