# Enmanuel De la Rosa: The Santiago Weightlifter Whose Key to Success Is Consistency

**Date:** 05/06/2026

Cuban weightlifter Enmanuel De la Rosa, Pan American junior champion in the 79-kilogram category, shared his sporting philosophy in an interview published by Granma on May 5, 2026 — and his answer could not be simpler: "My key has been consistency."

A native of Santiago de Cuba, Enmanuel has developed his talents at the ESFAAR Cerro Pelado high-performance centre in Havana, one of Cuba's most prestigious sports schools. His discipline and focus have made him one of the most complete young weightlifters in the Americas.

In March 2025, at the Junior Pan American Weightlifting Championship held at the very Cerro Pelado gymnasium in Havana, De la Rosa swept all three gold medals on offer in the 79 kg category: snatch, clean & jerk, and total. His mark of 140 kilograms in the snatch and a 310 kg total put him far ahead of his continental rivals. It was his first major international appearance, and a statement of intent that left no doubt about the talent within.

Months later, at the Junior Pan American Games in Asunción 2025 (August), he repeated the feat and claimed gold in the 79 kg category, delivering Cuba's tenth gold medal at those Games and confirming his status as the dominant junior lifter on the American continent in his weight class.

De la Rosa enters 2026 with his sights set on continued improvement and representing Cuba at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo 2026, where he is regarded as one of the top gold medal contenders in his division. His coaching staff point to him as one of Cuba's biggest bets for upcoming Olympic cycles.

True to his motto, Enmanuel De la Rosa keeps building his legacy — one lift, one competition, one consistent day of work at a time.
