# "El Divo de Placetas" and Dany Ome bring home Cuban wins at Miami's Ícono Awards 2026

**Date:** 11/07/2026

Eduardo Antonio, known as "El Divo de Placetas," won the 2026 Ícono Award in the "Favorito e Indomable" (Favorite and Untamable) category at a ceremony in Miami on Thursday, November 5, Directorio Cubano reported. Another popular Cuban social media figure, comedian Amed Rodríguez of "Abejas Memes," was nominated in the same category.

On stage, the singer spoke about the mockery and insults he has faced over his look, and recalled a line from his father that helped him through it: "You're different, and that's that." He later thanked his supporters online: "Thank you to everyone who voted for me, to all my sponsors, to my production team." The award came days after he received a "Special Recognition for Latin Excellence" at the sixth Hispanic Celebrities Awards, also in Miami.

The night's other Cuban win went to reggaeton artist Dany Ome, who took the Reparto category. El Divo congratulated him publicly and said he wants to record a song with him. Dany Ome, who accepted without his duo partner Kevincito El 13, wrote on Instagram that he carried him "in my heart" after "almost five years of sacrifice" together, Tarima Musical reported, and summed up the honor this way: "This award has a name: CUBA. This award has a genre: REPARTO."

The Ícono Miami awards honor Spanish-language artists, influencers and content creators. El Divo, a native of Placetas in Villa Clara, has announced a birthday party for December 9 at Miami's Flamingo Theater Bar.
