**Date:** 02/02/2023

Cuban singer Erik Iglesias Rodríguez "Cimafunk" announced CimaFest NOLA, a special presentation that he will perform on April 29 at the Civic Theatre in New Orleans, USA.

From his Instagram profile, the artist added that he will be accompanied by some artists such as percussionists Pedrito Martínez and Brenda Navarrete, among others. The "Afrocuban groove in New Orleans" is guaranteed according to Cimafunk.

Starting at 9:00 p.m. (USA time), the public will be able to enjoy Cimafunk's unique rhythms alongside his guests, in a presentation that will get everyone on their feet as the artist is accustomed to doing.

According to the official event page, "by bringing out the best of Cuban rhythms and traditions and infusing sounds and styles from Africa and the USA, Cimafunk has created something unique and special, not only in terms of music but also with the values it represents. He is redefining contemporary Cuban music, as well as Afro-Latin identity and the fusion of Black cultures."

Cimafunk released his second album El Alimento in October 2021 and since then the praise has been overwhelming. Rolling Stone magazine ranked it number 3 among the best bilingual and Spanish-language albums of 2021 and number 23 among the 50 best albums of 2021.

El Alimento is nominated for the 2023 Grammy Awards in the Best Latin or Alternative Rock Album category, whose 65th edition will take place on February 5 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Furthermore, the phonogram was among the best Latin music of 2021 by NPR and occupied number 1 among the Latin music favorites of Le Monde. Likewise, the singles also occupied excellent positions on the 2021 hit lists: "Rómpelo" with Lupe Fiasco was among NPR Alt.Latino's best singles of 2021 and "Funk Aspirin" with George Clinton among Remezcla's 10 best indie pop, rock and chill songs of 2021.

The artist has been named by Billboard magazine as one of the "10 best Latino artists to watch" and among the many accolades received are those for his performance in NPR's Tiny Desk concert series, which selected him as one of the best overall in 2020.

In the Cuban capital, Cimafunk launched the inaugural Getting Funky in Havana festival, where he joined forces with Trombone Shorty, Tank & The Bangas and The Soul Rebels to celebrate the cultural connection and Blackness between New Orleans and Cuba.

Now he returns to that American city, where the sounds of both nations are united through the indescribable energy and rhythm of this Cuban "showman."
