# Celia Cruz receives the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame's Premio Legado in Miami

**Date:** 10/14/2026

Celia Cruz will be honored posthumously on Wednesday, October 14, with the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame's Premio Legado (Legacy Award) at the 13th annual La Musa Awards at the Flamingo Theater in Miami. The organization said the award recognizes her "extraordinary cultural and musical legacy" and the Havana-born singer's role in bringing Afro-Cuban music and salsa to audiences worldwide over a career of more than five decades.

The ceremony, hosted by actor Jason Canela and singer-songwriter Moriah, will induct producer Sergio George, Colombia's Kike Santander, Peru's Gian Marco, Puerto Rico's Yoel Henríquez, Mexico's Mario Quintero Lara and Spain's Danny Daniel into the Hall of Fame. Lupita Infante, publisher Marti Cuevas of Mayimba Music and ASCAP CEO Beth Matthews will also receive special honors, according to the official announcement reported by EFE and Billboard.

The tribute comes as South Florida wraps up its celebrations of Celia Cruz's centennial. Cuban singer Lucrecia, who has spent years taking the Guarachera de Cuba's repertoire around the world, told Diario Las Américas she would perform "La negra tiene tumbao" at the gala, days after her Celia Vive concert at the Miramar Cultural Center.

Founded in Miami in 2012 by songwriter-producers Desmond Child and Rudy Pérez, the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame honors the creators behind Latin music's most enduring songs and runs scholarships and training programs for new songwriters.
