# Fourth Edition of Habana Clásica Festival to be Celebrated from November 5 to 20

**Date:** 10/26/2022

From November 5 to 20, the fourth edition of the Habana Clásica festival will be celebrated in the Cuban capital, with the participation of more than 50 artists including soloists, conductors and music, theater and dance groups from Germany, Canada, Cuba, United States, Spain, Holland, Italy, United Kingdom, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland.

The celebration of Habana Clásica, whose artistic director is Cuban pianist Marcos Madrigal, is part of the festivities marking the 503rd anniversary of the city and the tenth anniversary of the Esteban Salas Musical Heritage Cabinet, an institution of the Office of the Historian of the City that has assumed the management of this cultural event.

This year's edition will be dedicated to the work of Cuban violinist Claudio José Domingo Brindis de Salas y Garrido (Havana, 1852-Buenos Aires, 1911). Hubert de Blanck (Utrecht, 1856-Havana, 1932) will also be honored.

The program includes a performance of the Habana Concerto by José María Vitier, a three-movement piece (Pórtico, Medio Punto and Vitral), by Niurka González (flute), Yilian Concepción (violin), Marcos Madrigal, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba, conducted by Enrique Pérez Mesa.

Works by composers Nicola Sani (Ferrara, 1959), artistic director of the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, Italy, and Juan Piñera (Havana, 1949), coordinator of the Composition Chair of the University of the Arts of Cuba, will premiere.

Furthermore, Habana Clásica will establish synergies with the Italian Culture Week, the Contemporary Music Festivals and the Mozart Habana.

The Habana Clásica festival has the support of the Embassy of Switzerland in Cuba and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (COSUDE).
