# Carlos Alberto Fernández, a.Teenager from the current telenovela will debut in cinema outside of Cuba

Carlos Alberto Fernández Pupo is 15 years old and says he has fulfilled his dream. "I never had artistic inclinations, I always really liked football. Act? I hadn't planned that at all," he said in an exclusive interview. His artistic trajectory is short, but forceful: a series, a novel and a foreign film.

We are currently seeing the young actor's work in the telenovela Los hijos de Pandora. There he plays Cristian, son of Yoana (Gisselle Sobrino) and Reynaldo (Alain Aranda). The boy is in the middle of a family conflict, as he is not the biological son of who until now was thought to be his father.

In 2021 he took on the role of Leoni, son of Rita (Yeni Soria) and Leonel (Carlos Solar). In that audiovisual he found himself in the midst of a marriage breakdown. His father was beginning a homosexual relationship and the mother refused to accept the situation.

With all these appearances, as we said, Carlos has fulfilled a dream, but one he didn't know existed. "I like school, but one day I was having one of those boring sessions. I was in fifth grade and, just to get out of the classroom, I would sign up for anything. They announced they were looking for children to take some photos and I said yes. I went with three friends and one of their mothers. I participated and left.

"Two years later they held a casting at FOCSA for the series Rompiendo el silencio, they called me and I attended. I did the tests. At that moment there were several children and it was a strange sensation. After about three days they told me I had the role. Suddenly I'm in the series and I fell in love with it, I started to take a liking to it, to the point where I liked it too much".

The children's casting director at that time was Mariela López. She would repeat years later and would be in charge of the same function in the current telenovela.

Despite his youth, Carlos perfectly understands the meaning of being "eternally grateful." At different moments in his interview he thanks Mariela, Jazz Vilá, Carlos Solar, Yeni Soria, Ernesto Fiallo, José María Cabral and many other people in foreign lands.

Vilá is his current representative, Yeni and Carlos became his guardians, and together they took the teenager to the cast of the foreign film Tíguere.

"The opportunity to act in a foreign film was like this: a director from the Dominican Republic, José María Cabral, was looking for young people for his movie and told Jazz about it. Carlos Solar, who works at Vilá's company, was the one who told him about me and that's how I got involved.

"The casting was rigorous work. It had three phases. Then several days passed, days of desperation, I didn't know if there would be a response, but I decided to relax. While I was on the street, taking a walk with some friends, my mom told me to come back because I had a call from Jazz. He had been giving me strength and advice. I turned around and ran and received the news that I would be part of the movie. For me it was a very nice feeling. The possibility of acting in a foreign feature film is fantastic".

In 2023 that audiovisual will be released. About the filming he told us: "I met beautiful people, a lot of them, who I lived with and with whom I currently maintain the bond because we created a huge affection and tie. I'm talking about the whole team: the casting director there welcomed me into her home; other children, the production, everything was a dream".

For now, Carlos sums up that he is doing what he is passionate about. There is still much ground to cover and surprises to come. Soon we will also see him in the Cubavisión program, No te lo pierdas, which airs on Thursdays at 5:45 in the afternoon.
