# Cuban pitcher Rogelio Armenteros shines in Dominican League

**Date:** 10/27/2022

Cuban Rogelio Armenteros is in his fourth season in the Dominican League (LIDOM), all played with the Gigantes del Cibao. The Havana native is one of the starting pitchers for the San Francisco de Macorís team in their quest to repeat the crown achieved in the previous season, in which the Cuban was not present, which would be an incentive for him to achieve that title.

This Tuesday the Caribbean pitcher made his second start of the current season, this time facing the Toros del Este. The 28-year-old right-hander, in his initial outing, pitched three innings in which he allowed two earned runs and gave up only one hit, walked three and struck out four; in this game the Cuban did not get a decision.

On this Tuesday's game, Armenteros looked impressive on the mound, retiring the first eleven batters he faced in a row until in the fourth inning they got the first hit after two outs. The Cuban right-hander pitched 5 complete innings in which he allowed one earned run and gave up two hits, struck out four opponents and showed excellent control by not allowing any walks. He threw 67 pitches of which 47 were strikes. In addition to being able to aspire to the win, since he left the game with a 3-1 advantage for his relief pitcher, right-hander Tyler Cyr.

Armenteros continues to shine in the recently started season, his shutout average remains perfect after eight innings pitched. If the victory is confirmed for the Caribbean pitcher, it would be his first since the 2018-2019 season, when he won two and lost none. Without a doubt the Cuban will be fundamental for the Gigantes team this season. His good form suggests a stellar campaign for the young pitcher who had his time in the Major Leagues in the 2019 season with the Houston Astros.
