Vázquez's film and television projects include Kill the Messenger, starring Jeremy Renner and directed by Michael Cuesta; Anesthesia; and The Cobbler, alongside Adam Sandler, Dustin Hoffman and Steve Buscemi. He can also be seen on the small screen in the Lifetime series The Lottery as Pres. Thomas Westwood and as Reverend Emilio Sheehan in the NBC series Midnight, Texas. Yul began his career in American film and television in 1992. In his personal life, Vazquez is married to actress Linda Larkin, whom he married in 2002. Set in the 1960s in Miami, the series focuses on the exclusive Hotel Miramar Playa amid the political and organized crime drama of the era. Vázquez plays Víctor Lázaro, general manager of Miramar Playa. Additionally, he has appeared in three other television series, as Pedro in FX's Louie, as Christian in CBS's The Good Wife and as Det. Anthony Nikolich in the HBO television series Treme. Vázquez is a founding member of LAByrinth Theatre Company and served two terms as co-artistic director with Stephen Adly Guirgis and Mimi O'Donnell in New York City. Vázquez starred on Broadway in the Tony-nominated film The Motherfucker with the Hat alongside Chris Rock. For his portrayal of the eccentric cousin Julio, he received nominations for a Drama Desk Award, an Outer Critics Circle Award and a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play. Music Career Before beginning his acting career, Vázquez was the lead guitarist of the East Coast-oriented melodic rock bands (AOR) Urgent and Diving For Pearls. Urgent achieved minor success with their single "Running Back," which reached number 79 on the Billboard Hot 100. A second single from their debut album Cast The First Stone, "Love Can Make You Cry," appeared on the Iron Eagle soundtrack. Urgent disbanded in 1987 after the mediocre success of their second album, Thinking Out Loud. Following Urgent's disbandment, Vázquez joined Diving for Pearls, whose self-titled debut album was released by Epic/Sony Music in 1989. The label dropped the group before a second album could be completed due to the changing musical climate in the early 1990s, when melodic hard rock fell out of favor in the US. In 2009, Vázquez played acoustic guitar with Ian Astbury of The Cult under the name The Soft Revolt and performed at the Bowery Electric in New York City on opening night of John Patrick Shanley's play Savage in Limbo, which Astbury was producing. They performed songs by The Cult and Astbury's solo material, as well as covers by the Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Radiohead, among others.
