Milaimys de la Caridad Marín Potrille was born on March 16, 2001, in Havana and has become one of the most decorated wrestlers in recent Cuban sports history, competing in the women's freestyle 76-kilogram division.

Her first major international success came at the 2018 Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games, where she won gold in the 73 kg category. A year later she claimed the World U23 title in Budapest, and in 2021 she took gold at the Junior Pan American Games in Cali.

Marín broke through at the senior level with gold at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago and bronze at that year's Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador. In 2024 she reached the high point of her career, winning bronze in the 76 kg division at the Paris Olympics, becoming one of the few Cuban wrestlers to reach an Olympic podium. She confirmed her level in 2025 with another bronze medal at the World Championships in Zagreb.

In August 2026 she added gold at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, closing out Cuba's women's freestyle wrestling campaign and reaffirming her place among the leading figures in contemporary Cuban sport.
