Cristian Joel, born in Cuba 19 years ago, moved to live in Spain with his parents and at age 12 he joined Sporting's football academy, where he has progressed through the different categories until reaching the reserve team in which he currently plays.

The young red and white goalkeeper stands out for his build, but also for his reflexes, and is considered one of the players to watch, since clubs like Real Madrid or Liverpool, the recent European champions, have shown interest in him.

Currently in 2019, Christian Joel performs as goalkeeper for Sporting de Gijón B, which finished as champion of its group in Segunda B (Third Division) and maintains intact its chances of being promoted to Segunda. He states that since the youth categories the club has backed his development and offered him the opportunity to play in higher category teams, and currently he even plays in the reserve team, despite still being of youth age.
