# Andrés Daniel García Suárez

Andrés García holds a degree in Literature. Narrator, researcher, journalist. Member of UNEAC, UPEC, UNHIC and the History Commission of the Provincial Committee of the PCC Cienfuegos.

Andrés Daniel studied primary and secondary school in Cienfuegos until 1950. He was a student leader at the Institute of Secondary Education in Cienfuegos, as a delegate for 4th year of the Student Association in the 1949-1950 school year.

He obtained his degree in Literature from the Central University "Marta Abreu" of Las Villas in 1979.

In the neocolonial republic he worked as a street vendor, construction laborer, and electrician's assistant. He was a warehouse messenger between 1951 and 1953. Court Clerk from 1953 to 1960, where he became involved with the M-26-7 in 1957.

With the triumph of the Revolution in 1959, he performed functions in the Municipal Audit of the Rebel Army, which he organized; he created the MNR in the Judicial Power in 1960. In October 1960 he was appointed first Municipal Coordinator of the CDR in Cienfuegos.

In 1962, after completing a six-month internal course at the School of Revolutionary Instruction in Santa Clara, he was a founder, in August of that year, of the newspaper "Vanguardia" of Las Villas and in 1980 founder of the newspaper "Cinco de Septiembre" of Cienfuegos, where he retired as subdirector in the year 2008.

He has been a contributor to specialized publications (El militante Comunista, Bohemia, Revista de Propaganda (of the DOR of the CC.), magazine Con la Guardia en Alto (CDR), and others. He maintains two programs on historical matters (Sendero H. and Huellas) on the radio station Ciudad del Mar.

He belonged to the Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC), the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, as well as to that of historians, to the latter he dedicated much of his life gathering information for a book about the visits of Fidel Castro Ruz to the central and southern part of the country, which would be added to more than a dozen published volumes.
