**Date:** 03/08/2022

Popular Cuban actors Armando Tomey and Lili Rentería are part of the cast of the theatrical work "Las Lloronas" which premiered on March 3rd and will be in theaters until March 20th at the Westchester Cultural Arts Center in Miami.

The work features a cast of 16 actors and actresses directed by José Eduardo Pardo and guided by the original text by Miguel Maspons. "Las lloronas" delves into the historical practice of some professional Cuban mourning women – called plañideras, lamentatrices or lloronas in different cultures throughout history – and the fictional dark humor storyline of other characters in this work.

"It is not an autobiographical show. But it definitely has a lot of my memories as a boy, of my upbringing in a funeral home, my experiences with my grandfather, my grandmother, their great advice and of course their struggle for the Cuban community in exile and the importance of family as the fundamental axis of all society," Maspons expressed to Nuevo Herald.

Maspons, a lawyer by profession who became a playwright, seeks to speak about the importance of family. To do this, director Pardo has prepared an immersive theatrical work with a stellar cast.

For his part, Armando Tomey plays "Paco," an important character in the plot, son of Aca, who "supports the entire dramatic development of this story that mixes reality and fiction."

Lili Rentería will play Aca's right hand, who entrusts her with the task of educating Las Lloronas, so that they become the stars of crying. She is an anonymous heroine of the staging," commented the actress.

The cast is completed by Héctor Medina, Catherine Nuñez, Fabián Brando, Jorge Melo, Laura Alemán, Boris Roa, Ana Collado, Ariadna González, Agostina Alarcón, Paloma Piedrahita, Yelus Ballestas and Isairis Rodríguez.
