# Anette Delgado Opens National Ballet of Cuba's Giselle at the Mariinsky

Prima ballerina Anette Delgado dances the title role in Giselle on September 24, 2026, as the National Ballet of Cuba opens a Russian tour at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg during the 12th International United Cultures Forum.

Delgado is partnered by Ányelo Montero as Albrecht, with Gabriela Druyet as Queen of the Wilis, Ernesto Díaz as Hilarion and Clotilde Peón as Berthe. Cuban conductor Idalgel Marquetti leads the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, according to Juventud Rebelde and Prensa Latina.

Under general director Viengsay Valdés, the company presents Alicia Alonso's choreographic version of the Jules Perrot and Jean Coralli classic. After St. Petersburg the tour continues to Moscow's Bolshoi Theatre, the Pushkin Theatre in Nizhny Novgorod and the Dmitri Shostakovich Theatre in Samara, Cubadebate reported.

Delgado, a principal with the National Ballet of Cuba since 2005, told Prensa Latina that dancing Giselle on that stage means carrying the company's prestige as well as her own name.
