# Ana de Armas covers Harper's Bazaar Spain: "Emigrating is always very hard"

**Date:** 10/22/2026

Ana de Armas is one of two cover stars of Harper's Bazaar Spain's November beauty issue, alongside Carmen Thyssen. The Havana-born actress, 38, was photographed by Pepe Lobez in a riad at Marrakech's Royal Mansour hotel wearing pieces from Mythica, the new high jewelry collection from Louis Vuitton, the house she has represented as an ambassador for years. The magazine published the interview on October 21.

De Armas recalled leaving Cuba at 18 to pursue acting in Madrid. "I thought I was very grown up, but I was really a baby. Emigrating is always very hard," she told the magazine. She said her early years on the island "nourished" her, since that is where she first studied theater, and that the lack of opportunities there fueled her drive "for more."

She also described arriving in Hollywood without speaking English. "I spent all the money I had saved in Spain on rent, on food and on English classes," she said, adding that at one point her agents literally had to lend her money to eat, before Blade Runner 2049, Knives Out, No Time to Die and Blonde made her a star.

These days, she said, home base is the mountains of Vermont, and home itself is wherever her dogs, Elvis and Salsa, are. "I've loved my 30s, I feel very secure," said the actress, who added that she would like to become a mother and keep traveling.
